Many foodies are only ordering takeout during the crisis. We help you discover the best.
In this new series, we’re visiting local restaurants finding the best takeout options for foodies in the Woodlands Area.
When you think of fine dining in the Woodlands, one of the names you’ll often hear is that of Chef Austin Simmons, the incredibly talented man who helms the kitchen at Tris. Some don’t realize it, but Chef Austin also oversees The Kitchen, the fast casual concept located on Research Forest at Gosling. The Kitchen is known for its burgers, sandwiches, and casual entrees, but during these difficult times, Chef Austin has created some very interesting options for those wishing to have an excellent meal at home.
The new Dinner for Two choices caught our attention. Presented here is the Oak Grilled Beef Tenderloin for two. It’s $52, and includes two thick six-ounce prime tenderloins, baked potatoes, grilled asparagus, salad, dessert, and a bottle of wine. We feel that it’s an outstanding value, especially for steaks of this quality.
The two prime tenderloins are seasoned with Chef Austin’s secret H1 rub, and flame grilled to order (Mid-rare in our case). Make no mistake about it; these are high quality cuts of beef that would easily sell for nearly twice the price at better steakhouses around town. They’re well seasoned and beautifully grilled.
The baked potatoes are loaded with all the usual suspects, and are plump, moist, and tender. The grilled asparagus are superb renditions of this steakhouse favorite. We added an appetizer to our order; The Kitchen’s enticing Brussels Sprouts; we also had to splurge on an order of their incredibly creamy Mac & Cheese. (Their full menu is available for takeout as well.)
The end result was an excellent steak dinner which would easily exceed $50 per person at most area steakhouses, cooked perfectly and enjoyed in the safety and comfort of our home.
Safety and sanitation at The Kitchen are exemplary. All staff is masked, and their cleaning practices are beyond reproach. GM Austen Goodwin and his staff are ready to deliver your takeout order curbside, but you may want to peek inside to browse the incredibly well-priced wine offerings, as this savvy foodie chose to do.
We make no secret of the fact that we’re fans of The Kitchen. Their take out offerings continue their philosophy of providing superb chef-created cuisine at very affordable prices. We look forward to our next meal from this talented Kitchen.
