The Houston area is well represented in the 2022 James Beard Foundation Awards.
The James Beard Foundation has announced the finalists for its annual restaurant and chef awards. Houston had an outstanding showing, with a total of six finalists from the area — four of which were in the coveted national categories.
Ruben Ortega of Xochi and Hugo’s is a finalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef.
Chris Williams of Lucille’s is a finalist for Outstanding Restaurateur.
Hugo’s is a finalist for Outstanding Hospitality.
Julep is a finalist for Outstanding Bar Program.
Christine Ha and Tony J. Nguyen of Xin Chào are finalists for Best Chef Texas.
Quy Hoang of Blood Bros BBQ is a finalist for Best Chef Texas.
