Chicken, Bacon, Egg – For the Traditionalist
The dishes we’ve already discussed will attract patrons with an adventurous palate, but traditionalists should have no fear; Chef Jassi has plenty of options for you.
Kerala Fried Chicken – Chef Jassi’s take on this Houston breakfast classic is nothing short of superb. It starts with rich, golden brown, boneless fried chicken breast. Skillfully handled, the moist, tender chicken takes on a crispy crust and has a lush, soulful flavor with prominent umami. The waffle creates a sturdy platform, and a sweet counterpoint. Complex, nuanced masala maple syrup with hints of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom brings in the flavors of the subcontinent; it’s perhaps the best syrup we’ve tasted. Spicy tomato and eggplant chutney is a tangy counterpoint; we recommend trying both, but probably not mixing them.
Candied Bacon – Thick, meaty slices of bacon are glazed and presented beside a beautifully baked choori paratha, and finished with a scoop of the subtle milk ice cream. This is seriously good bacon, and the gently sweet paratha and the cool, lush ice cream create a wonderfully balanced offering.
Duck Egg Scramble – Like scrambled eggs? These may be your new favorite. Delicate. Soft, airy, buttery eggs. A blast of the sea from the salmon roe; earthiness from sauced mushrooms, crowned with freshly shaved truffle raining down from above.
The presentation was both elegant and impressive. Watch as our server Raj shaves the fresh truffle over the delicate dish. This service is refined, elegant, and utterly unexpected at brunch in the Woodlands.
Service
Raj and his assistant provided friendly, knowledgable service throughout the meal. Partners Surpreet Singh and Preet Singh have put together a talented team that excels in their ability to anticipate each guest’s needs.
Conclusions
Amrina has been open in the Woodlands for less than a month, but they’re already making big waves in the food scene. Their first brunch service was polished, delicious, and utterly unique. We predict this to be the new hot brunch destination in the Woodlands. Get your reservations in now before they book up.
