Buldogies – Better than Ever

Buldogies, the small, family, run restaurant that specializes in hot dogs and American fair food, has had a difficult couple of years. Finally getting business back after the COVID pandemic, disaster struck as owner Jamie Mancil was injured in a 20-foot fall.

The future of the family business was in jeopardy. WAF stepped up and conducted a fundraiser to help, but donations don’t last forever.

Fortunately, Jamie recovered enough to work, and we stopped by to see how he was doing, and to try his latest creation. Not satisfied with making the best hot dogs in Texas, Jamie and parter Bri Majko have now undertaken that Texas classic: The corndog.

These aren’t your typical frozen corn dogs, available everywhere. Buldogies takes their premium hot dogs, dips them in a housemade batter, and deep fries them fresh. They come out piping hot, with the perfect crunchy outer shell, and the soft cornbread enrobing the frankfurter.

But wait. There’s more. The corn dog is then sliced open, and dressed with any of Buldogies’s award-winning toppings.

The result is a complex, delicious corn dog that is literally bursting with flavor. Purists (and kids) may choose an unspilt corn dog to replicate the traditional experience, just elevated to a whole new level with high quality ingredients and the personal care than only Jamie and Bri can provide.

Of course, Buldogies offers more than corn dogs. Their superb chicken-salad sandwich is better than ever, with bits of Buldogie Bacon added to bring a rich, soulful flavor to the sweet, creamy chicken salad. Speaking of bacon, the superb thick-cut Buldogie Bacon is available as a side dish, or to add to any of your favorites. Those practicing keto diets can order six orders of bacon and a diet coke for a healthy, delicious meal.
