A second Trader Joe’s is planned for the Woodlands / Spring area—an unexpected addition given that a nearby store already serves The Woodlands.
The new location is set for Spring Town Center at 21364 Kuykendahl Road, with construction expected to begin in June 2026 and completion targeted for early 2027. It will be about 12,500 square feet, in line with the company’s typical store format.
What stands out is not just the location, but the fact that this will be a second Trader Joe’s in close proximity to The Woodlands. The existing store already provides relatively convenient access for many Woodlands residents, so another store nearby wasn’t necessarily expected.
The primary benefit of the new site is for Spring residents. For those living south and west of The Woodlands, this location will reduce drive times and offer a more direct option without needing to head toward the current store.
The addition also reflects continued growth in the Spring area, where retail development is expanding alongside population increases. While The Woodlands already had access to Trader Joe’s, this second location suggests the broader market in north Harris and Montgomery County can support more than one store.
In short, this isn’t about filling a gap for The Woodlands—it’s about expanding access for Spring, with the added surprise of getting another Trader Joe’s so close by.
