Rayford Road isn’t known as a haven for affordable, quality food, but Off The Hook Seafood is doing its best to change that. Owner Alex Abdulwahab has created a comfortable, casual setting that delights foodies with seafood that goes beyond the typical fried baskets… although those are present, and well executed. From the gigantic Nashville Fried Fish Sandwich to the sublime Fried Calimari, with its light breading and cravable sauce, the kitchen demonstrates strong expertise with the fryer. The other dishes are even more delightful; a light, tangy seafood salad had us craving one more bite, the Tuna Poke po boy was another highlight. An entree of Monkfish and mushrooms shows a gift for complex, layered sauces, at an affordable price. We were even pleasantly surprised by the chef’s excellent cheeseburger, something we wouldn’t expect from a seafood spot.
About their Burgers
You don’t expect a great burger at a seafood place, but Off the Hook delivers a very pleasant surprise. A beautifully seasoned half pound patty is the basis, perfectly melted cheese, farm-fresh toppings and skillful execution add to the effort, and the result is one of the best burgers in our area.
Not resting on their laurels, Off the Hook upgraded the burger to use locally sourced Prince Beef, created from Texas angus cattle. It’s a delicious upgrade that makes an already great burger even better.
About Happy Hour
For happy hour, Off The Hook Seafood offers a well-priced selection of their greatest hits, including the amazing Nashville-style Hot Fish Sandwich. Beer and wine are available to quench your thirst, and there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
