Reader-Supported Media – An Experiment
Typically, a project like TWTX.co is supported by advertising dollars. Businesses, typically restaurants, pay to advertise in front of the thousands of hungry viewers of the site.
The problem with this is that some folks will then question the independence of the editorial viewpoint of the site. The publishing industry has struggled with this forever, and the wall between editorial and advertising is the mark of an ethical company. Even when the division is strong, there will be those who assume that ad dollars influence editorial. And there’s no way to convince them that they’re wrong.
We’re going to try something different. As an experiment, we’re asking readers to support TWTC.co with direct donations.
