The Grogan’s Mill Village Center, the original village center in the Woodlands, has gotten the short end of the stick yet again. While other village centers and shopping centers have been beautifully decorated for the holidays, the Grogan’s Mill Village Center was once again ignored. Here is a photo of the entrance, showing no decorations (or maintained landscaping):
The grass on the median is completely dead. The small hedge, the only attempt at landscaping, is largely dead. The sign is in disrepair. No holiday decorations are to be seen here, or anywhere else in the village center. Yet the landlord (Howard Hughes Corporation) continues to collect rent.
Don’t the businesses and restaurants in the Grogan’s Mill Village Center deserve the same support from their landlords as other tenants in the Woodlands receive?
The Woodlands Board has also done nothing to insure that the same community standards that apply to other commercial properties are enforced for the powerful landlord of the Grogan’s Mill Village Center.
At a recent Grogan’s Mill Village Associate meeting, Howard Hughes representatives talked about a bright future for the center under their owernship. Apparently that bring future does not include a happy holiday season, or the maintenance of basic community standards.
Bah, humbug seems to be the new Howard Hughes motto.
